Exploring DAWN: A Decentralized Autonomous Wireless Network on Solana

Discover DAWN, a decentralized wireless network on Solana, enabling users to earn rewards by sharing internet bandwidth. With its innovative technology, DAWN offers a decentralized internet service, allowing participants to buy, sell, and exchange bandwidth while earning tokens. Join the future of decentralized internet with DAWN!

DAWN: Abbreviation for Decentralized Autonomous Wireless Network.

What is DAWN?

With DAWN and existing internet hardware, anyone can earn money passively by buying and selling internet bandwidth in their area. DAWN's technology is managed by the parent company Andrena, enabling everyone to participate in internet infrastructure without relying on telecom companies or centralized cloud services.

How DAWN Works

Node Structure in DAWN

  • Bandwidth Node (BN): This node can wholesale internet bandwidth, connect IP handoffs, and link to internet exchange points. BNs deploy radios with over 1 Gbps speed to provide internet within a 5-mile radius (approx. 8 km). One radio can serve 15 to 100 receiving nodes.
  • Distribution Node (DN): Typically located in commercial or residential buildings, DNs connect to BNs via rooftop robotic antennas and extend the connection further. DNs can connect with multiple BNs or other DNs in real-time.
  • End-User (EN): These are users who consume internet bandwidth from DNs.
  • Foundation: This organization controls multisig smart contracts to regulate node interactions. Additionally, it manages identity verification, blockchain, node communication, regulatory compliance, QoS monitoring, and global transaction processing.

Proofs of Network Resources

Proofs of Network Resources refer to how the network uses bandwidth to describe its performance through factors such as bandwidth, data provided, and device location. Other terms defined by DAWN to describe network performance include:

  • Proofs of Backhaul: A speed test to measure bandwidth or node throughput, assisted by a group of challengers who send small amounts of data to nodes to measure network speed and latency.
  • Proof of Location: Ensures that DAWN nodes are in the declared location.
  • Proof of Service: Enables users to easily switch from centralized to decentralized internet providers.
  • Proof of Frequency: Confirms the wireless internet frequency used by each node and minimizes interference through a node's staking mechanism. Nodes receive a set of encrypted data necessary to verify wireless network transmission by a BN or DN and are rewarded with tokens via smart contract.

User Roles

DAWN will allow users to earn money passively by purchasing the project's native token through a mobile app and using it to buy internet bandwidth from the community. The mobile app will connect with household hardware to provide and share internet access.

DAWN will reward users for connecting, referring others, and participating as validators. For example, users will earn 1,440 reward points for every 24-hour connection period.

When launched, DAWN's wireless network is expected to serve over 3 million households in the U.S., with plans for global expansion into Asia, Europe, and Latin America. DAWN is currently operating on testnet and will soon launch on Solana.

Token Information

The project has announced the future release of the DAWN token but has not disclosed a specific timeline. The DAWN token will have the following utilities:

  • Encouraging users to stake DAWN to become validators.
  • Allowing users to buy, sell, and exchange internet connections through the mobile app using DAWN tokens.

Getatnow.com will keep you updated with the latest information on the DAWN token from the project.

Development Team

Andrena is the development team behind DAWN, with prominent members including:

  • Neil Chatterjee: Co-Founder and CEO of Andrena.
  • James Smits: Co-Founder and CPO of Andrena.
  • Mark Wang: COO and CFO of Andrena.

Investors

Andrena, the development team behind DAWN, successfully raised a total of $33 million in two funding rounds, Series A ($15 million) and Series A extension ($18 million). Investors include Dragonfly Capital, Wintermute, and ParaFi Capital, among others.

Development Roadmap

Currently, DAWN allows users to earn money passively by joining the network as validators to share internet bandwidth and earn points, with the possibility of receiving airdrops in the future, similar to Grass, another DePIN project sharing internet bandwidth. Getatnow.com will update you as soon as new information is available from the project.

How to Participate in DAWN's Airdrop

  • Step 1: Visit this link https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/dawn-validator-chrome-ext/fpdkjdnhkakefebpekbdhillbhonfjjp to download the DAWN Validator extension.
  • Step 2: Create an account using your email, enter your details such as name, password, and enter the invite code “8p3vbk4g” to support Getatnow.com. Then, verify your email and log back into the DAWN Validator extension.
  • Step 3: Once successfully logged in, your account will start accumulating points immediately based on your internet bandwidth. To increase your earned points, select "Boost Rewards" to complete social tasks and invite more friends to join.

Conclusion

DAWN is a DePIN protocol developed on Solana to provide decentralized internet services to users. Currently, DAWN allows users to earn money passively by downloading the extension and becoming a validator on the network to earn points, similar to Grass, another DePIN project sharing internet bandwidth.

Through this article, you have gained a basic understanding of DAWN and how to participate in its airdrop.
